The frontman is set to make a small fortune from the site.He also owns 1.5 percent of Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook.

Bono’s own provite equity firm Elevation Partners has quadrupled its initial investment in the site to 750 million dollars (485.3 million pounds), due to the success of Facebook, reports Word.

In October a film was released The Social Network which was based on Facebook founder Zuckerberg.

Meanwhile, U2′s Bono and The Edge will be attending all the upcoming preview performances of the Spider-Man musical following troubles with the production.

U2 has announced new stops in Argentina, Chile and Brazil, bulking up the band’s already stuffed 2011 calendar.

The latest additions to the band’s “360 Tour” are March 25 in Santiago, Chile; March 30 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and April 9 and 10 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The stadium rockers next play in the U.S. May 21 in Denver, and will follow that with more than 20 additional shows in North America through July.

Even the biggest concert of the year acknowledged the sombre mood of the nation.

U2′s Bono said the band felt privileged to be here especially at a time when hearts were aching and so raw.

Struggling for the right words to convey his condolences for the people of Greymouth, he said: “People deal with grief in all sorts of ways. In Ireland, we sing”.

Bono then launched into “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”.

The names of the 29 mining victims scrolled across the screen as the band played “One Tree Hill”, a song penned for New Zealander Greg Carroll who was the band’s roadie.

Opening act Jay-Z also paid a rap tribute to the miners saying “they will always be in our hearts and they will always be forever young.”

U2, Metallica, AC/DC and Rush were among the big names honored at the 2010 Billboard Touring Awards in New York on Thursday night.

U2 took home “Top Tour” and “Top Draw” awards for their 360 World Tour, based on top-grossing and top ticket-selling tours.

Metallica picked up the “Eventful Fans’ Choice” award, as voted by music fans across the States – essentially, a “Favorite” or “Best Concert Tour Of The Year” prize.

AC/DC snagged the “Top Boxscore” award for its three sellout shows at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.

And, as previously announced (see “AC/DC, Bon Jovi and U2 top 2010 Billboard Touring Awards” here), Canadian icons Rush were honored with the “Legend Of Live” award for their contributions to the industry and commitment to performing.

According to a post on U2gigs.com — one of the more heavily trafficked and reliable U2 fan sites (trust me, I’d know) — Ireland’s most famous foursome are considering bringing their massive 360 Tour to Vanderbilt Stadium for a July 2011 stop. The post said:

The latest hot rumour doing the rounds online is that U2 are going to return to Tennessee for the first time since the Popmart Tour and perform in Nashville. The rumor suggests that the concert will take place on 2 July 2011 at Vanderbilt Stadium. There is a sufficient gap in the schedule between the Miami show on 29 June 2011 and the Chicago show on 5 July 2011. Furthermore, since Nashville is on the way from Miami to Chicago, this rumour seems pretty plausible. A somewhat weaker rumor hints that tickets for this show could go on sale as soon as the 30th of October.

After opening the set with one of their unreleased tracks (“The return of the stingray guitar” which the band are presenting during the second leg of their tour) Bono greeted his fans with a single “Qué pasa!” (“What’s up!”) followed by a performance of “Beautiful Day”.

No sooner had the lead singer spoken the words “Kaixo, we know that we are in the mystical San Sebastian!” than he had the audience eating out of his hand.

For two hours, Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr performed new songs from their latest album No Line on the Horizon, as well as classics from their 30-year career (“Walk On”, “Get on your boots”, “MLK”, “Where the streets have no name”, “One” and “Spanish Eyes”).

Bono built up a close rapport with his audience and invited several fans up on the stage to sing with him. The band played more than 20 songs on a spectacular set, the last two of which were “With or without you” and “Moment of surrender”.

This was their second concert in the Gipuzkoa capital in 5 years. The Irish band last visited the Anoeta stadium in August 2005, when 40,000 fans attended the event. After analyzing various technical details of the stadium, it was decided it could cope with more fans, allowing the capacity to increase from 40,000 to 50,000.

The U2 360º Tour kicked off in Barcelona last June. Since then, U2 have been traveling around the world playing to crowded stadiums. Another gig is planned for Seville on September 30th.

SUPERSTAR rapper Jay-Z will be a special guest on U2′s much anticipated Australian 360 Degrees tour.

Jay-Z will play for about an hour before the Irish group takes to the stage.

With 10 Grammy awards to his name, the rapper is regarded as one of the most successful artists.

It will be his second Australian visit.

Jay-Z and U2 have combined in the past, thrilling fans by performing Sunday Bloody Sunday in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin last November.

There is no word yet on whether Jay-Z will play his own headline shows while Down Under or whether his hit-making wife, Beyonce, will join him.

An Australian act is also expected to be added to the U2 tour.

Ticket prices have been released for the event at Etihad Stadium on December 1, which go on sale on September 3.

After Bono hurt his back earlier this summer,  U2 were forced to postpone their tour, as well as a headlining gig at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. However, the idea of hosting U2 at Glastonbury must have really appealed to organizers, as founder Michael Eavis has offered the band the opening night spot at the 2011 edition.

After being forced to cancel after his back surgery this year, Bono told Eavis he was “heartbroken” and that the band had written a song specifically for the show. “We really wanted to be there to do something really special,” he said.

The band has yet to accept Eavis’ invite, but are expected to.

With Bono now back in action, the band has returned to the stage, picking up their tour on Friday night in Turin, where they debuted a pair of new songs.

Forbes has revealed that U2 were the highest-earning group in the world from June of 2009 to June of 2010, placing first on the magazine’s Top Earning Musicians of 2010 list.

The rockers are on the top of the rich list of musicians compiled by Forbes; they have beaten AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen and Britney Spears. For the reported period, the Irish band earned $130 million which were gathered from their massive world tour and lucrative merchandise sales, heavy radio play, and back catalog sales.

Next on the list are the Australian metal boys AC/DC, who garnered $114 million from their worldwide road show. Beyonce Knowles is the third with $87 million, followed by Bruce Springsteen with $70 million, while Britney Spears is at 5th place with $64 million.

U2 may have missed out headlining the Glastonbury Festival this year, but the rockers may get a second chance to play the event in 2011.
The Beautiful Day singer’s were forced to pull out of Glasto this year after front man Bono suffered a back injury leaving him unable to play the gig.
Gorillaz later replaced the rockers on the Friday night but it seems Glasto organiser Michael Eavis still wants U2 to play the event at some stage.
Eavis has hinted that the band could be back to headline the event next year, after guitarist The Edge appeared on stage with Muse this weekend.
Eavis stated: “The Edge enjoyed the experience and he’s had a taste of playing now so I’m sure the band are really keen to do it when it suits them…”
He added: “This is an ongoing conversation for next year.”
Despite this year’s Glasto only just ending yesterday, Eavis also claimed that he already has a number of names in mind to headline the event in 2011 but refused to reveal who they are.
